Bupleurum Chest Bind Decoction
柴胡陷胸汤 〔柴胡陷胸湯〕chái hú xiàn xiōng tāng

Ingredients:
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 3g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 4.5g
- Jiāng bàn xià (姜半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma cum Zingibere Praeparatum, ginger[-processed] pinellia [rhizome]) 9g
- Zhǐ ké (qiào) (枳壳 Aurantii Fructus, bitter orange) 4.5g
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 2.4g
- Guā lóu rén (瓜蒌仁 Trichosanthis Semen, trichosanthes seed) 15g
- Jiāng zhī (姜汁 Zingiberis Rhizomatis Succus, ginger juice)
Action: Harmonizes and resolves the lesser yáng (shào yáng); opens with acrid agents and downbears with bitter agents.

Method: Prepare as a decoction and add four drops of ginger juice into each bowel of the liquid.
Notes: This is a variant of Xiǎo chái hú tāng (小柴胡汤 Minor Bupleurum Decoction).
