Mù tōng helps to clear heat and disinhibit dampness, conducting the evil with the urine. Shè gān and Chuān bèi mǔ drain lung qì and disinhibit the throat. Lián qiào, Huáng lián, and Bò hé are light agents that outthrust evils, clear heat, and resolve toxin. The combination clears heat in the upper body, percolates dampness in the lower body, and transforms turbidity in the center.
