Method:
Dosage: Take 3g 2–3 times a day with warm wine or water. For topical use, blend with yellow wine or rice vinegar.
Warnings: Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Rationale: Tiān nán xīng and Fù zǐ/Bái fù zǐ dispel wind and transform phlegm, as well as checking tetany. Qiāng huó, Fáng fēng, and Bái zhǐ dispel wind, and help the other to two agents to course wind in the channels and carry out of the body. With the exception of Fáng fēng, all these agents are dry and acrid, so that they could potentially damage liquid and cause the tetany to persist. However, the Fáng fēng prevents this, especially with Tiān má, which also enhances the wind-extinguishing and tetany-resolving action. The rice wine helps the wind agents to free the channels and network vessels.
