Source: Yáng Shì Jiān Cáng Fāng 杨氏家藏方

Ingredients:

Action: Dispels wind-damp; resolves tetany.

Indication: Wind stroke facial paralysis (deviated eyes and mouth, and twitching of the facial muscles) due to wind-phlegm obstruction of the network vessels of the head and face. Tongue fur: White and glossy. Pulse: Stringlike.

Category: Wind-relieving formulas / External wind formulas

Method: Grind to form a powder (or prepare as a decoction).

Dosage: 6g of the powder taken with warm wine or water. Blend with yellow wine for rice vinegar for topical use.

Rationale: Bái fù zǐ dispels wind, transforms phlegm, and resolves tetany; it is especially effective in eliminating wind in the head and face. Jiāng cán transforms phlegm and frees the network vessels; it is especially good for eliminating wind in the network vessels. Quán xiē, which dispels wind and resolves toxin, is a major agent for checking convulsions. Although this formula has only three agents, it is highly effective. Taken wind warm rice wine, it ascends straight to the head and face.
