- Cāng ěr zǐ (苍耳子 Xanthii Fructus, xanthium [fruit]) 9g
- Bái zhǐ (白芷 Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Dahurian angelica) 9g
- Xīn yí huā (辛夷花 Magnoliae Flos, magnolia flower[1]) 12g
- Bò hé (薄荷 Menthae Herba, mint) 3g
Action: Courses wind and frees the orifices.
Indication: deep-source nasal congestion due to wind-heat attacking the upper body. Signs: nasal congestion, inability to smell, turbid nasal mucus, pain and feeling of distension in the forehead.

Method:
Rationale: Cāng ěr zǐ and Xīn yí disperse wind and free the orifices of the nose and are commonly used for any sort of nasal congestion or runny nose. Bái zhǐ free the orifices and courses the exterior, eliminating wind and dispersing dampness. Bò hé clears exterior heat and also clears the head and eyes. Cōng bái frees yáng, while tea clears fire. All these agents work to clear the nose, and relieve the feeling of distension in the head, and headache.
