Source: Shāng Hán Lùn 伤寒论

Ingredients:

• Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 12g
• Hòu pò (厚朴 Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, officinal magnolia bark) 15g
• Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 15g

Action: Drains heat and abducts stagnation; disperses accumulation and eliminates fullness.

Indication: Yáng brightness bowel repletion patterns with glomus and fullness, constipation, and tidal heat effusion. Tongue fur: Yellow. Pulse: Slippery and rapid. Also treats indigestion and food accumulation with diarrhea, as well as initial-stage dysentery with distension and fullness of the abdomen and tenesmus.
