Lesser Galangal and Cyperus Pill
良附丸 〔良附丸〕liáng fù wán
Source: Liáng Fāng Jí Yè 良方集腋
Ingredients:
- Gāo liáng jiāng (高良姜 Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, lesser galangal [root]) 10–15g
- Xiāng fù (香附 Cyperi Rhizoma, cyperus [rhizome]) 10–15g
Action: Warms the center and disperses cold; rectifies qì and relieves pain.
Indication: Congealing cold and stagnant qì with stomach pain relieved by warmth and pressure. Tongue fur: White.

Method: Stone-bake the ingredients individually until dry. Grind to a fine powder and store for use.

Rationale: Gāo liáng jiāng warms the center and disperses cold, while Xiāng fù rectifies qì and resolves depression. If there are signs of depressed liver qì transforming into fire and insufficiency of stomach qì (such as a red or crimson tongue), do not use this formula.
