Spirit-Quieting Mind-Stabilizing Pill
安神定志丸 〔安神定志丸〕ān shén dìng zhì wán

Ingredients:
- Rén shēn (人参 Ginseng Radix, ginseng) (or Dǎng shēn (党参 Codonopsis Radix, codonopsis [root])) 5g
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 3g
- Fú shén (茯神 Poria cum Pini Radice , root poria) 3g
- Yuǎn zhì (远志 Polygalae Radix, polygala [root]) 3g
- Shí chāng pú (石菖蒲 Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, acorus [root]) 1.5g
- Lóng chǐ (龙齿 Mastodi Dentis Fossilia, dragon tooth) 1.5g
Action: Nourishes the heart and quiets the spirit; promotes heart-kidney interaction.
Indication: Insufficiency of heart qì and noninteraction of the heart and kidney with abstraction, heart palpitation, insomnia, susceptibility to fright, and epilepsy. Tongue: Pale. Pulse: Fine and weak.

Method:
Rationale: Rén shēn —or Dǎng shēn—, Fú líng, and Fú shén supplement heart qì and quiet the heart spirit. Lóng chǐ settles the heart and quiet the spirit. Shí chāng pú and Yuǎn zhì open the orifices of the heart, and with dragon teeth, promote interaction between the heart and kidney.
