Source: Zhèng Zhì Zhǔn Shéng 证治准绳

Ingredients

• Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root]) 30g
• Shān zhū yú (山茱萸 Corni Fructus, cornus [fruit]) 15g
• Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 12g
• Jú huā (菊花 Chrysanthemi Flos, chrysanthemum [flower]) 12g
• Mǔ dān pí (牡丹皮 Moutan Cortex, moutan [bark]) 12g
• Hé shǒu wū (何首乌 Polygoni Multiflori Radix, flowery knotweed [root]) 12g
• Huáng bǎi (黄柏 Phellodendri Cortex, phellodendron [bark]) 12g

Indications: Insufficiency of liver yīn with vacuity tinnitus in both ears, and running of pus that fails to dry. In modern clinical practice, this is observed in chronic otitis media.

Method: Grind to a fine powder, and blend with honey into pills the size of firmiana seeds (wú tóng zǐ).

Dosage: Take 30 to 50 pills at a time.
