Source: Jīn Guì Yào Lüè 金匮要略

Ingredients

• Zào jiá (皂荚 Gleditsiae Fructus, gleditsia [fruit])

Indications: Cold-type cough.

Method: Remove skin from the gleditsia (honey locust) pod, smear with fat, and bake. Then grind to a powder, blend with honey, and form into pills.

Dosage: 0.5g three times a day and once at night.

Rationale: Zào jiá is warm and acrid. It dispels wind-phlegm and eliminates dampness.
