Action: Enriches yīn and boosts qì; engenders liquid and allays thirst.
Indication: Dispersion-thirst (xiāo kě) characterized by thirst with desire for fluids, emaciation, and lack of strength.
Category: Supplementing formulas / Dual yīn-yáng dual supplementation formula
Method: Decoct with water
Rationale: This is a commonly used dispersion-thirst formula. Mài dōng, Tiān dōng, raw and Shú dì huáng, and Shí hú nourish yīn and engendering liquid. Rén shēn, Huáng qí, and Gān cǎo supplement original qì. Pí pá yè clears lung and stomach heat. Zhǐ shí and Zé xiè abduct the heat downward.
