Ingredients:

Action: Enriches yīn and drains fire; courses wind and brightens the eyes.

Indication: Yīn vacuity with effulgent fire with blurred flowery vision, dilation of the pupils, black flowers before the eyes, or double vision, dry eyes, dizziness, and tinnitus. Tongue: Pale red with scant fur. Pulse: Rapid, fine, and weak.

Rationale: The raw and Shú dì huáng, Mài dōng, and Tiān dōng, Tù sī zǐ, Gǒu qǐ zǐ, Wǔ wèi zǐ, Niú xī, Ròu cōng róng, and Shí hú nourish the liver and supplement the kidney, boosting yīn and replenishing essence. The Dǎng shēn, Gān cǎo, Fú líng, and Shān yào supplement spleen yīn. Zhike and Xìng rén diffuse lung qì helping it to transport fluid. All these agents combine to supplement essence and transport it upward to brighten the eyes. Líng yáng jiǎo, Xī jiǎo, and Huáng lián are included to clear the liver and extinguish wind, while Jí lí, Jú huā, Chuān xiōng, Fáng fēng, celosia seed, and Jué míng zǐ course wind-heat in the liver channel.
