Ingredients

Actions: Supplements qì and nourishes the blood; secures the kidney and quiets the fetus.

Indications: Stirring fetus, miscarriage, and pale, thin, discharge of blood during the early stages of pregnancy, accompanied by aching lumbus, abdominal pain, heart palpitation, shortness of breath, and a bright white facial complexion. Tongue: Pale with white fur. Pulse: Fine and slippery, revealing forcelessness under heavy pressure.

Rationale: Dāng guī, Bái sháo, and Chuān xiōng supplement and regulate liver blood, and nourish the fetus. Huáng qí lifts a fallen fetus. Tù sī zǐ boosts essence and secures the fetus. Jīng jiè suì and Qiāng huó are acrid dispersing agents that have an upraising action that helps the action of Huáng qí. Hòu pò and zhike loosen the chest and rectify qì, while Chuān bèi mǔ transforms phlegm and disinhibits lung qì. These three agents all help the uplifting action of Huáng qí. ài yè and Shēng jiāng warm fetal qì and the uterus.
