Category: Interior-warming formulas / Yáng-returning desertion-stemming formulas

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: This formula is Sì nì tāng (四逆汤 Counterflow Cold Decoction)with Cōng bái instead of Gān cǎo. As in the original formula, the Fù zǐ and Gān jiāng return yáng and stem counterflow, treating exuberant internal yīn cold characterized by cold limbs, aversion to cold, and clear-grain diarrhea. Cōng bái is acrid and warm, and is slippery in substance, and it is used here to free flow of yáng qì between the upper and lower body. Combined with Fù zǐ and ginger, it treats exuberant yīn repelling yáng characterized by the red facial complexion and vexation.

Notes: This is a variant of Sì nì tāng (四逆汤 Counterflow Cold Decoction).

Similar: Sì nì tāng (四逆汤 Counterflow Cold Decoction)
