Ingredients
- Huáng qí (黄芪 Astragali Radix, astragalus [root]) 9–12g
- Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) (or Dǎng shēn (党参 Codonopsis Radix, codonopsis [root])) 9–12g
- Cāng zhú (苍朮 Atractylodis Rhizoma, atractylodes [rhizome]) 6g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 6g
- Mài dōng (麦冬 Ophiopogonis Radix, ophiopogon [root]) 9–12g
- Wǔ wèi zǐ (五味子 Schisandrae Fructus, schisandra [berry]) 3–6g
- Gé gēn (葛根 Puerariae Radix, pueraria [root]) 6–9g
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel) 3–6g
- Qīng pí (青皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, unripe tangerine peel) 3–6g
- Shén qū (神曲 Massa Medicata Fermentata , medicated leaven) 9g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 6–9g
- Zé xiè (泽泻 Alismatis Rhizoma, alisma [tuber]) 6–9g
- Huáng bǎi (黄柏 Phellodendri Cortex, phellodendron [bark]) 6–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 3g

Actions: Clears summerheat and boosts qì; fortifies the spleen and safeguards the lung.

Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Rén shēn —or Dǎng shēn—, Huáng qí, and Gān cǎo boost qì and secure the exterior, thereby supporting right and constraining sweat. Bái zhú and Cāng zhú fortify the spleen and dry dampness, while Zé xiè disinhibits water and percolates dampness. Mài dōng and Wǔ wèi zǐ safeguard the lung and engender liquid, while Dà huáng drains fire, thereby preserving yīn. Dāng guī supplements the blood, helping to harmonize yīn. Shēng má and Gé gēn effuse exterior heat, and uplift clear qì. Qīng pí and Chén pí regulate qì dynamic, while Shén qū harmonizes the stomach and disperses food.
