- Shí hú (石斛 Dendrobii Herba, dendrobium) 6–9g
- Mài mén dōng (麦门冬 Ophiopogonis Radix, ophiopogon [root]) 9–12g
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 1–3g
- Zhú yè (竹叶[1] Bambusae Folium, black bamboo leaf)

Action: Boosts qì and nourishes yīn; clears summerheat-heat.

Rationale: Watermelon skin clears heat and resolves summerheat; it also engenders liquid and relieves cough, while Xī yáng shēn boosts qì and engenders liquid.
