Ingredients

• Xiāng rú (香薷 Moslae Herba, mosla) 6g
• Biǎn dòu huā (扁豆花 Lablab Flos, lablab flower) 9g
• Hòu pò (厚朴 Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, officinal magnolia bark) 6g
• Jīn yín huā (金银花 Lonicerae Flos, lonicera [flower]) 9g
• Lián qiào (连翘 Forsythiae Fructus, forsythia [fruit]) 6g

Actions: Dispels summerheat and resolves the exterior; clears heat and transforms dampness.

Indications: Upper burner summerheat-heat blocked by cold, manifesting as heat effusion with aversion to cold and absence of sweating, headache, vexation in the chest, red facial complexion, thirst, and inhibited voidings of reddish urine. Tongue fur: Thin and slimy. Pulse: Large on the right.

Rationale: Xiāng rú resolves exterior summerheat and is therefore the sovereign in the formula. Biǎn dòu huā and Hòu pò harmonize the center and transform dampness. Jīn yín huā and Lián qiào clear heat and resolve toxin.
