Yáng within yáng

阳中之阳 〔陽中之陽〕yáng zhōng zhī yáng

The yáng part of a yáng phenomenon (i.e., an aspect of a yáng phenomenon that is more yáng than another aspect of the same phenomenon). For example, Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, jīn guì zhēn yán lùn) states, Calm dawn to midday is in the yáng [part] of the day and is the yáng within yáng. The morning falls in the daytime (yáng) part of the day as opposed to nighttime (yīn), and since during this period the sun grows stronger and higher, this is the yáng part of the daytime, as opposed to the afternoon, which is the yīn part of the daytime; hence the morning is an example of yáng within yáng. Compare yīn and yáng are divisible but inseparable.
