Superabundance of qì gives rise to fire
气有于便是火 〔氣有於便是火〕qì yǒu yú biàn shì huǒ
Exuberant yáng qì gives rise to fire patterns. For example, exuberant yáng qì due to insufficiency of yīn humor can manifest in signs of vacuity fire flaming upward such as red eye, sore pharynx, and sore swollen gums. The five minds and seven affects can cause yáng hyperactivity or depressed qì transforming into fire manifesting in various patterns such as liver fire, gallbladder fire, stomach fire, and heart fire.
