Needle pounding
捣针 〔搗針〕dǎo zhēn
Also pounding. A needle manipulation technique whereby the needle, after insertion, is repeatedly raised and thrust between two levels of the flesh. Needle pounding differs from lifting and thrusting by the absence of variation in speed between retraction and thrusting and by a shorter span of movement. It produces even supplementation and drainage, whereas lifting and thrusting is normally used to supplement or drain.
