Directional supplementation and drainage

迎随补泻 〔迎隨補瀉〕yíng suí bǔ xiè

An acupuncture technique whereby the needle is angled with or against the flow of qì in a channel to produce a supplementing or a draining needle stimulus. A needle pointing in the direction of the channel flow produces supplementation, whereas one pointing counter to the direction of the flow produces drainage. See needle manipulation (technique).
