SP-20 All-Round Flourishing

周荣 〔周榮〕 zhōu róng

Alternate names: 周营 zhōu yíng, All-Round Provisioning

Channel: SP, foot greater yīn (tài yīn) spleen channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the chest, in the second intercostal space, 6 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classical location: One cùn and six fēn below Celestial Treasury (LU-1), six cùn from the midline. The point is found in supine posture. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The lateral thoracic artery and vein, the 2nd intercostal artery and vein. The muscular branch of the anterior thoracic nerve, the lateral cutaneous branch of the 2nd intercostal nerve.

Action: Diffuses and downbears lung qì; suppresses cough and stabilizes panting.

Modern indications: Cough; counterflow qì; distension and fullness in the chest and rib-side.

Classical indications: Spitting of foul pus; inability to get food and drink down.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.4‒0.5 cùn outward oblique insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
