ST-32 Crouching Rabbit

伏兔 〔伏兔〕fú tù

Alternate names: 外勾 wài gōu, Outer Hook; 外丘 wài qiū, Outer Hill

Channel: ST, Foot Yáng Brightness (yáng míng) Stomach Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the anterior aspect of the thigh, 6 cùn proximal to the superior border of the patella, on the line that connects the anterior superior iliac spine (asis) and the lateral border of the patella.

Classic location: At the prominence of the flesh, six cùn above the knee. (Zhēn Jiǔ Jiǎ Yǐ Jīng)

Local anatomy: Branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and vein. The anterior and lateral femoral cutaneous nerves.

Action: Warms the channels and disperses cold; courses wind and quickens the network vessels.

Modern indications: Lumbar pain and cold knees; paralysis of the lower limbs; leg qì (jiǎo qì, beriberi).

Classic indications: Mounting (shàn); mania evil; scantness of breath.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒15 min.
