ST-20 Assuming Fullness

承满 〔承滿〕 chéng mǎn

Channel: ST, foot yáng brightness (yáng míng) stomach channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the upper abdomen, 5 cùn superior to the umbilicus and 2 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classical location: One cùn below Not Contained (ST-19), two cùn either side of the midline. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: See ST-19.

Action: Harmonizes the stomach and rectifies qì.

Modern indications: Stomach pain; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); poor appetite; abdominal distension.

Classical indications: Rumbling intestines; mounting (shàn) pain; inability to get food and drink down; diarrhea or dysentery; jaundice; painful hardening beneath the ribs; qì ascent and panting.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.7‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
