ST-15 Roof

屋翳 〔屋翳〕wū yì

Channel: ST, Foot Yáng Brightness (yáng míng) Stomach Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the chest, in the second intercostal space, on the midclavicular line.

Classic location: In the depression one cùn and six fēn below Storeroom (ST-14), four cùn from the midline. The point is found in supine posture. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The pectoral branch of the thoracoacromial artery and vein, second intercostal artery and vein. The anterior cutaneous branches of the thoracic nerves, and the medial pectoral nerve.

Action: Courses wind and relieves pain.

Modern indications: Cough; panting; distension and pain in the chest and rib-side; mammary welling-abscess (rǔ yōng).

Classic indications: Cough and counterflow qì ascent; pain in the breast; generalized wind itch or pain with discomfort exacerbated by clothes; pain and lack of strength in the limbs; infantile panting with distension.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3 cùn downward oblique insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒15 min.
