M-HN-3 Hall of Impression

印堂 〔印堂〕 yìn táng

Channel: Nonchannel point

Modern location: An acupoint located between the eyebrows, on the anterior midline at the center of the glabella.

Classical location: In the depression between the two eyebrows. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: Branches of the medial frontal artery and vein. The superior palpebral ramus of the supratrochlearis nerve.

Action: Quickens the collaterals and courses wind; quiets the spirit.

Modern indications: Infantile fright wind; high blood pressure; frontal headache; heavy-headedness; nosebleed; deep-source nasal congestion; insomnia.

Classical indications: Headache; eye diseases; nasal congestion; postpartum blood dizziness; pregnancy epilepsy.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.2‒0.5 cùn transverse insertion toward GV-25 (sù liáo) or the eyebrow; can be bled. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒10 min.

Needle sensation: Localized aching and distension, sometimes extending to the tip of the nose.
