M-CA-23 Moxibustion Triangle
三角灸 〔三角灸〕sān jiǎo jiǔ
Channel: Non-Channel Point
Modern location: An acupoint located on the lower abdomen, at the lower angles of an equilateral triangle with the apex at the navel and each of its sides as long as the width of the patient's mouth.
Classic location: Use a string that neither stretches nor contracts to measure the length of the patient's mouth from corner to corner, then increase the length threefold. Fashion the string into an equilateral triangle with the upper corner placed at the center of the patient's umbilicus. Using the base of the triangle as a standard, the two extremities mark the points. (Zhēn Jiǔ Jí Chéng)
Local anatomy: The muscular branches of the inferior epigastric artery and vein. The 10th intercostal nerve.
Modern indications: Hernia; pain in the umbilical region; infertility.
Classic indications: Mounting qì (shàn qì); running piglet (bēn tún); cold heart pain.
Needle stimulus: Moxa: 5‒7 cones at each point. Treat disease on the left through the point on the right and vice versa.
