M-BW-24 Lumbar Eye
腰眼 〔腰眼〕 yāo yǎn
Channel: Nonchannel point
Modern location: An acupoint located on the lower back, in the dimple below the iliac crest, about 3.5 cùn lateral to the fourth lumbar vertebra.
Local anatomy: The posterior branches of the 2nd lumbar artery and vein. The superior clunial nerve; deeper, the lumbar nerve plexus.
Modern indications: Pulmonary tuberculosis; frequent urination; dispersion-thirst; menstrual irregularities; women's diseases; lumbar pain.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒7 cones; pole 5‒15 min.
Needle sensation: Aching and distension in the lumbar region, sometimes extending to the gluteal region.
