CV-24 Sauce Receptacle

承浆 〔承漿〕 chéng jiāng

Alternate names: 鬼市 guǐ shì, Ghost Market; 天池 tiān chí, Celestial Pool; 悬浆 xuán jiāng, Suspended Sauce; 重浆 zhòng jiàng, Heavy Sauce

Channel: CV, controlling (rèn) vessel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the chin, below the lower lip, in the center of the mentolabial groove.

Classical location: When the mouth is open, the point is in the center of the depression beneath the protrusion of the lower lip. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The branches of the inferior labial artery and vein. The branch of the facial nerve.

Action: Dispels wind and frees the network vessels; relieves pain and settles tetany; eliminates wind and disperses swelling.

Modern indications: Deviated mouth; painful swollen gums; toothache; drooling; fulminant loss of voice; mania and withdrawal.

Classical indications: fulminant loss of voice; dispersion-thirst; hemilateral wind.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.2‒0.3 cùn upward oblique insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒20 min.

Needle sensation: Localized twinge and distension.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the controlling vessel and stomach channel; one of the thirteen ghost points.
