CV-18 Jade Hall

玉堂 〔玉堂〕yù táng

Alternate names: 玉英 yù yīng, Jade's Beauty

Channel: CV, Controlling (rèn) Vessel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the chest, level with the third intercostal space on the midline.

Classic location: In the depression one cùn and six fēn directly above Chest Center (CV-17). (Yī Zōng Jīn Jiàn)

Local anatomy: The perforating branches of the internal mammary artery and vein. The anterior cutaneous branch of the third intercostal nerve.

Action: Loosens the chest and rectifies qì; suppresses cough and dispels phlegm.

Modern indications: Cough; panting; chest pain; retching and vomiting.

Classic indications: Vomiting and vexation; pain in the anterior chest; panting and fullness; vomiting and phlegm congestion; qì ascent; rib-side pain.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.2‒0.3 cùn downward oblique insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
