Channel: ST, Foot Yáng Brightness (yáng míng) Stomach Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located between the eyeball and the midpoint of the infraorbital ridge.

Classic location: In the depression seven fēn below the eye, level with the pupil [when the eye looks straight forward]. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The branches of the infraorbital and ophthalmic arteries and veins. The branch of the intraorbital nerve, the inferior branch of the oculomotor nerve and the muscular branch of the facial nerve.

Action: Dispels wind and disperses fire; courses evils and brightens the eyes.

Modern indications: Painful red swollen eyes; tearing; night blindness; deviated eyes and mouth; twitching of the eyelids.

Classic indications: Nearsightedness.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.7 cùn perpendicular insertion.

Needle sensation: Localized twinge and distension.

Warning: Deep insertion contraindicated. Moxa contraindicated.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the stomach channel and the controlling and yáng springing vessel (yáng qiāo mài)s.
