脊中 〔脊中〕jǐ zhōng

Alternate names: 脊俞 jǐ shù, Spine Transport; 脊柱 jǐ zhù, Spine Pillar; 神宗 shén zōng, Spirit Gathering

Channel: GV, Governing () Vessel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the upper back, inferior to the spinous process of the eleventh thoracic vertebra.

Classic location: Below the eleventh vertebra. (Yī Zōng Jīn Jiàn)

Local anatomy: The posterior branch of the eleventh intercostal artery. The medial branch of the posterior ramus of the eleventh thoracic nerve.

Action: Fortifies the spleen and disinhibits dampness; supplements the kidney and stems desertion; strengthens the lumbus.

Modern indications: Diarrhea; jaundice; hemorrhoids; epilepsy; infant gān accumulation; prolapse of the rectum.

Classic indications: Prolapse of the rectum in children; stomach pain; drum distension; five hemorrhoids.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn sideways and upward oblique insertion.

Warning: Moxa contraindicated.
