LR-9 Yīn Bladder

阴包 〔陰包〕yīn bāo

Alternate names: 阴胞 yīn bāo, Yin Bladder

Channel: LR, Foot Reverting Yīn (jué yīn) Liver Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the medial aspect of the lower thigh, 4 cùn superior to the medial epicondyle of the femur, between the vastus medialis and the sartorius muscles.

Classic location: Four cùn above the knee, between the two sinews on the inner face of the thigh. The point is found with the leg flexed. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: Deeper, on the lateral side, the femoral artery and vein, the superficial branch of the medial circumflex femoral artery. The anterior femoral cutaneous nerve, on the pathway of the anterior branch of the obturator nerve.

Action: Courses the liver and rectifies qì; adjusts the penetrating and controlling vessels; clears and disinhibits the lower burner.

Modern indications: Abdominal pain; enuresis; inhibited urination; menstrual irregularities.

Classic indications: Urinary incontinence; lumbar pain accompanied by smaller abdominal swelling.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.6 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 5‒7 min.
