GB-31 Wind Market
风市 〔風巿〕fēng shì
Channel: GB, Foot Lesser Yáng (shào yáng) Gallbladder Channel
Modern location: An acupoint located on the midline of the lateral aspect of the thigh, 7 cùn superior to the level of the popliteal crease, in the vastus lateralis muscle at the anterior edge of the iliotibial tract.
Classic location: Between the two sinews on the outer side above knee, at the end of the middle finger when the hand is placed on the thigh. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)
Local anatomy: The muscular branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and vein. The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, the muscular branch of the femoral nerve.
Action: Dispels wind and disperses cold; strengthens the sinews and bones; regulates qì and the blood.
Modern indications: Wilting-impediment (wěi bì) of the lower limbs;
Classic indications: Wind impediment (fēng bì) pain; small intestine qì pain: vacuity rumbling in the abdomen; scrotal swelling; headache.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.7‒1.2 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒7 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
