Channel: GB, foot lesser yáng (shào yáng) gallbladder channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the midline of the lateral aspect of the thigh, 7 cùn superior to the level of the popliteal crease, in the vastus lateralis muscle at the anterior edge of the iliotibial tract.

Classical location: Between the two sinews on the outer side above knee, at the end of the middle finger when the hand is placed on the thigh. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The muscular branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and vein. The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, the muscular branch of the femoral nerve.

Action: Dispels wind and disperses cold; strengthens the sinews and bones; regulates qì and the blood.

Modern indications: Wilting-impediment (wěi bì) of the lower limbs; generalized itching; leg qì (jiǎo qì, beriberi).

Classical indications: Wind impediment (fēng bì) pain; small intestine qì pain: vacuity rumbling in the abdomen; scrotal swelling; headache.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.7‒1.2 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒7 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
