GB-27 Fifth Pivot
五枢 〔五樞〕wǔ shū
Channel: GB, Foot Lesser Yáng (shào yáng) Gallbladder Channel
Modern location: An acupoint located on the smaller abdomen, 3 cùn inferior to the level of the umbilicus, medially adjacent to the anterior superior iliac spine (asis).
Classic location: Three cùn below Girdling Vessel (GB-26), five cùn and five fēn to the side of Waterway (ST-28). (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)
Local anatomy: The superficial and deep circumflex iliac arteries and veins. The iliohypogastric nerve.
Action: Strengthens the lumbus and boosts the kidney; courses the liver and rectifies qì; checks vaginal discharge.
Modern indications: Abdominal pain; mounting qì (shàn qì, inguinal hernia); vaginal discharge; constipation; yīn protrusion (prolapse of the uterus).
Classic indications: Cold mounting (hán shàn) in males; lumbar and back pain; abdominal pain; constipation;
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 5‒10 cones; pole 10‒30 min.
Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the gallbladder channel and girdling vessel.
