GB-16 Eye Window

目窗 〔目窗〕mù chuāng

Alternate names: 至荣 zhì róng, Arriving at Splendor

Channel: GB, Foot Lesser Yáng (shào yáng) Gallbladder Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the superolateral aspect of the head, 2.0 cùn within the anterior hairline on the line connecting GB-15 (tóu lín qí) and GB-20 (fēng chí).

Classic location: One and a half cùn behind Overlooking Tears (GB-15). (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The frontal branches of the superficial temporal artery and vein. The anastomotic branch of the medial and lateral branches of the frontal nerve.

Action: Courses the channels and network vessels; clears the head and brightens the eyes.

Modern indications: Headache; painful red swollen eyes; clear-eye blindness; nasal congestion; epilepsy; painful swelling of the face.

Classic indications: Nearsightedness; aching among the upper teeth; aversion to cold and nasal congestion; heat effusion with aversion to cold with absence of sweating.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn backward transverse insertion. Moxa: 3‒5 cones; pole 5‒15 min.

Point groups: Intersection point (jiāo huì xué) of the gallbladder channel and yáng linking vessel (yáng wéi mài).
