Channel: BL, foot greater yáng (tài yáng) bladder channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the lower back, level with the inferior border of the spinous process of the first lumbar vertebra, 3 cùn lateral to the midline.

Classical location: In the depression either side of the spine, below the thirteenth vertebra. The point is located in straight sitting posture. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: Posterior branches of the 1st lumbar artery and vein. The lateral branch of the 12th thoracic nerve.

Action: Disperses food and abducts stagnation; softens hardness.

Modern indications: Abdominal pain; constipation; glomus lump; diseases of the breast.

Classical indications: Diseases of the breast; major hardness below the heart.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒1.0 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 10‒30 min.
