Channel: BL, Foot Greater Yáng (tài yáng) Bladder Channel

Modern location: An acupoint located on the posterior aspect of the thigh, inferior to the ischial tuberosity, in the middle of the gluteal fold.

Classic location: In the crease below the buttock and above the inner face of the thigh. (Zhēn Jiǔ Dà Chéng)

Local anatomy: The artery and vein running alongside the sciatic nerve. Superficially, the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve; deeper, the sciatic nerve.

Action: Soothes the sinews and quickens the network vessels.

Modern indications: Hemorrhoids; pain in lumbar, sacral, gluteal and femoral regions.

Classic indications: Enduring hemorrhoids and with swelling of the buttocks; inhibited urination.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.7‒1.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3 cones; pole 5‒10 min.

Needle sensation: Distension and numbness, spreading towards the knees or feet.
